BRING NATURAL GAS TO ALL OF LEISURETOWNE NJ
The Issue
We, the undersigned LeisureTowne residents, property owners, family members, friends and community advocates, call upon PSE&G to work toward expanding affordable natural-gas service to ALL of LeisureTowne in Southampton Township, New Jersey.
Natural gas is already available in a newer section of LeisureTowne. Yet residents throughout much of LeisureTowne remain dependent upon electricity for heating and other major household energy needs.
LeisureTowne is a senior community where many residents live on Social Security, pensions and retirement savings. At the same time, electricity costs have risen dramatically, putting additional pressure on household budgets.
We believe LeisureTowne homeowners should have the opportunity to reduce their dependence on increasingly expensive electricity by having access to affordable natural gas as an alternative energy source.
We respectfully call upon:
1. PSE&G to conduct a comprehensive study and resident-interest survey and develop a plan for extending natural-gas infrastructure throughout currently unserved portions of LeisureTowne.
2. Southampton Township Committee to adopt a formal Resolution of Support requesting that PSE&G study and pursue expansion of natural-gas service throughout LeisureTowne and transmit that resolution to PSE&G and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
3. Senator Latham Tiver, Assemblywoman Andrea Katz and Assemblyman Anthony Angelozzi to jointly contact PSE&G and the NJ Board of Public Utilities on behalf of LeisureTowne residents and request that PSE&G work with the community toward expansion.
4. The Governor's Office and New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to support and facilitate discussions among PSE&G, Southampton Township and LeisureTowne residents aimed at making expanded natural-gas service possible.
5. PSE&G representatives to meet with LeisureTowne residents and community representatives to discuss the study, resident demand and a path toward expansion.
Natural gas already reaches LeisureTowne. Let's finish the job.
We are asking PSE&G and our elected representatives—Republican and Democrat alike—to work together on behalf of LeisureTowne's seniors.
Study it. Survey the residents. Develop the plan. Expand the service.
NATURAL GAS FOR ALL OF LEISURETOWNE
Affordable energy. More choices. Less dependence on electricity. Helping seniors remain in their homes.
