Bring Mr. Erickson Back to Robert Frost Elementary

For more than 10 years, Mr. Erickson has inspired, educated, and supported students at Robert Frost Elementary. His dedication extends beyond the classroom through programs like Disney Kids productions, where he helps students build confidence, express their creativity, and connect with one another. In May, Mr. Erickson was honored with the prestigious Outstanding Educator Award by the PTSA, recognizing his exceptional dedication and contributions to students and the school community. He is a beloved teacher whose absence has deeply affected our school community.

Mr. Erickson was initially placed on leave in November. That investigation ended in January and was completely unsubstantiated, allowing him to return to the classroom. Yet in June, he was suddenly removed from his classroom again. Once more, students, families, and staff were left with more questions than answers.

The repeated removals have raised serious concerns throughout the Frost community. Many families believe that school administration is trying desperately to remove Mr. Erickson from his classroom, despite the lack of substantiated findings from the initial investigation and his long record of service to students. The district has kept him on paid leave for more than nine months across these periods, while the community continues to struggle to understand why he is being kept away from the students he has served for more than two decades.

The administration has now replaced him with a new contracted teacher for the entire school year. Meanwhile, Frost students, families, and staff are left to cope with the disruption and uncertainty created by his continued absence.

Our community is united in calling for Mr. Erickson’s immediate return. More than 100 signs throughout Kingsgate and beyond reflect the widespread support for him and the urgency families feel. Behind each sign are people who know his dedication, value his contributions, and want him back in the classroom.

This is not simply a personnel matter to the Frost community. It affects our children, their classrooms, and the trusted relationships that help students feel secure and supported at school. Families are deeply concerned that a beloved and effective teacher—recently recognized by the PTSA with the prestigious Outstanding Educator Award—is being pushed out without a substantiated reason.

We call on Robert Frost Elementary and the Lake Washington School District to stop this continued effort to remove Mr. Erickson from his classroom, address the community’s concerns, and return him to the students and community he has served for more than a decade.
