My name is Valentina, and I am writing this with a heavy heart during one of the hardest moments of my life.

My two beloved dogs, Mascara and Lagrima, are not just pets to me—they are my family. I have raised them since before they were born. When their mother, Boo, passed away, I made a promise to protect them for the rest of their lives.

Mascara and Lagrima have been my constant source of love and comfort through the most difficult times, including homelessness and escaping domestic violence. They are my family, my healing, and my joy.

Recently, everything changed.

Mascara was wrongfully adopted out by the Animal Foundation after being misidentified, despite the fact that he has been with me since birth and is microchipped in my name.
I was assured that Lagrima would be placed on hold until I passed a yard check, which I did. Despite this, she is now listed as “in progress for adoption.”
This is devastating and unjust. My dogs were taken from me not because I abandoned them, but because of mistakes and miscommunication within the system.

I am pursuing legal action, but I need your help to show the Animal Foundation and the courts that Mascara and Lagrima deserve to come home to the family who has loved them their entire lives.
