Bring Luis Leon Home — ICE Secretly Deported an 82-Year-Old Grandfather

The Issue

Luis Leon has lived in Pennsylvania for nearly 40 years.

He fled torture in Chile, was granted asylum in 1987, worked in a leather factory, raised a family, and made America his home.

In June, he went to a U.S. immigration office to replace his lost green card.

Instead of helping him, ICE handcuffed him without explanation.

His family was left in the dark. Days later, they received a chilling call falsely claiming he had died.

They soon learned the truth: Luis had been secretly deported — not to Chile, his home country, but to Guatemala, where he has no ties.

He is now hospitalized there, alone, with diabetes, heart problems, and high blood pressure.

ICE has yet to provide answers.

We, the undersigned, demand immediate action from the Department of Homeland Security to ensure his safe and immediate return to the United States.

Investigate how this deportation occurred without due process or family notification

No one — especially an elderly asylum recipient — should be torn from their home without cause, due process, or basic dignity. What happened to Luis is a disgrace, and it must be made right.

Bring Luis Leon home.
