The Issue

In 1999, Digimon Adventure was more than a children’s cartoon — it was a global phenomenon that explored friendship, fear, leadership, and the pain of growing up through a story that still resonates today.

More than 25 years later, the original audience has grown up — and we are ready to see Digimon reimagined in a modern, cinematic live-action format.

With the success of Netflix’s live-action One Piece, it is clear that anime adaptations can succeed when they are handled with respect, care, and high production values. Digimon Adventure is uniquely suited to this treatment.

Unlike many monster franchises, Digimon is fundamentally character-driven. Digimon do not evolve through power alone — they evolve through emotional growth, courage, responsibility, and trust between human and partner. These themes translate perfectly to live action and are more relevant than ever.

This adaptation should not be a children’s reboot.

It should be a grounded, emotionally rich sci-fi adventure aimed at both:

Long-time fans who grew up with Digimon (now aged 25–40)

New viewers discovering the franchise for the first time

The Digital World offers limitless creative potential for cinematic storytelling, while the original Season 1 narrative provides a proven, complete story arc focused on survival, leadership, sacrifice, and unity.

What We Are Asking For

We respectfully ask Netflix to:

Partner with Toei Animation and Bandai

Develop a faithful, high-quality live-action adaptation of Digimon Adventure (Season 1)

Treat it as a premium series, not a novelty

Stay true to the characters, themes, and emotional core of the original story

Why Now

Anime live-action adaptations are finally being done right

Nostalgia-driven series dominate global streaming

Digimon remains one of the most recognisable monster franchises worldwide

This project has the potential to become Netflix’s next flagship sci-fi fantasy series, with room for multiple seasons, films, and spin-offs. Especially now stranger things has ended.

If you grew up with Digimon — or believe it deserves the live-action treatment it never had — please sign and share this petition.

It’s time to save both worlds.
