While political differences will always aim to divide citizens of The United States , certain facts remain: our prisons contain prisoners in need of rehabilitation, and an estimated 70 million stray animals struggle to survive on any given day in the US according to the Humane Society . 

Inmate programs that help both prisoners and animals have been around for years, and the statistics are overwhelmingly positive. The only question that remains is why are such effective programs not the standard for all prisons state and nationwide ?
