I was scrolling through my old emails and remembered i had also recieved this letter from Representative Jeff Denham over a year ago as well.. I just need to find someone at the state level willing to assist us in venturing through all the proper channels to get this bill where it needs to be.. Those who have responded to my desperate pleas for help seem willing to do whatever they can once it reaches their desk.. Its getting it there that i need your help with!! Contact YOUR local legislators! We need someone willing to sponsor this bill in order to get it on the next ballot! August 20, 2015 Dear Tina, Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns. I always appreciate hearing from my constituents. As Casey's Law was implemented at the state level in Kentucky and Ohio, such a law would need to be introduced and enacted in California at the state level. Therefore, I encourage you to contact your local government officials to discuss the issue. Your state legislators are the following: Assembly Member Adam Gray – District 21 Capitol Office State Capitol, Room 6012 Sacramento, CA 94249 (916) 319-0021 District Office 690 W. 16th Street Merced, CA 95340 (209) 726-5465 Senator Anthony Cannella – District 12 Capitol Office State Capitol, Room 3048 Sacramento, CA 95814 (916) 651-4012 District Office 918 15th Street Modesto, CA 95354 (209) 577-6592 Currently, there is no legislative equivalent before me in Congress. Rest assured, drug use among American youths continues to be a primary concern for officials at all levels of government. At the federal level, the Office of Adolescent Health (OAH) coordinates adolescent health programs and initiatives throughout the country in order to promote 'positive youth development', including the eradication of substance abuse. Additionally, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NHDA) monitors the prevalence and trends of drug abuse. NHDA also coordinates with other prevention scientists and agencies to conduct drug abuse research, as well as develop prevention and treatment programs. As a father, I share your concerns over the dangerous trend of drug abuse amongst our youth, and I will keep your thoughts in mind, should I have the opportunity to vote on related legislation. Once again, thank you for contacting me. I encourage you to stay up to date with my activity in Washington and in the 10th District on my website, www.denham.house.gov, and on my social media sites: @RepJeffDenham on Twitter and Representative Jeff Denham on Facebook. Sincerely, JEFF DENHAM United States Representative
