Barron Odum Brooks is a little girl from Jesup, GA, who lived primarily with her mother, never with her father as a family unit or alone. She’s always been primarily with her mother. She went to Wayne Christian Academy and danced with my daughters at Gina’s Gems. 

When her daughter was snatched from dance, this is when I learned about her case from our wonderful, sweet community. 

Barron’s father snatched his daughter from school before the order was even signed and took complete custody of her, cutting her mama out. 

I work in advocacy in this community and was immediately concerned. I started digging and while her mother wouldn’t speak on the case, I found the following working with my advocacy group. 

Her mother works very hard as an eye doctor at Eye Girls in Jesup and her father is an OBGYN in Macon, GA. 

Her father, Dr. Byron Brooks has numerous reported cases of abuse against him. The reported abuse is terrifying but Judge Carla Roberts Powell turned a blind ear.

Three unbiased mental health experts stated that it was in Barron’s best interest to remain in the primary care of her mother. 

The Guardian Ad Litem, Courtney Joiner Anderson and the co-counsel for the father, Kimberly Copeland worked together as co-counsel in the following cases via the Peach database, making their opinion to remove Barron from her mother a conflict of interest.

Attorney Kimberly Copeland has a history of having her license suspended via the State Bar website but she’s representing the best interest of this child? 

The Guardian Ad Litem broke several laws. She only met Barron once in a park but had Kimberly Copeland join her for that interview  that was supposed to be solely for her to make an unbiased opinion. She repeatedly states on her Facebook that she favors father’s rights but has since deleted those posts. Not before our advocacy group could gather screenshots. 

Judge Carla Roberts Powell allowed all of this to occur in her courtroom. She’s up for election. Remember that name and what she has done. Many other women have given similar accounts of mistreatment by Judge Powell to us. 

Furthermore, her mama can no longer see Barron and rarely is able to speak to her daughter. Do these officials not understand how damaging that it for a child her age?!

Tearing a child away from her mother and the only home she has ever known is cruel punishment TO THE CHILD. She lost her mom, she lost her school and friends, and she lost her dance studio. Who does that?? What kind of “Judge” would grant this?? 

How much damage should one child endure because the very people put in positions to protect are doing the opposite?? 

The father deserves to see his daughter but after this, it should be supervised visits only…just as they have done to Barron’s mother.

Please sign our petition as we work together as a community to get the recognition of the Georgia State Bar, PAC, Kemp, and other agencies about the atrocities these attorneys are committing against a loving mother, missing her daughter every second of every day. 

I am in contact with news agencies as I would like them to run her story so the public can be made aware of these attorneys and Judge.
