Remember when we had a Books A Million in the Shops at the Shelby Crossing plaza? Remember how upsetting it was to see it close? We were all confused as to how that even happened because we all loved going into BAM to shop and browse. Now, without our bookstore, we are left to travel hours away if we want to go to a popular bookstore again. After traveling out of town to visit Barnes & Noble or Books A Million stores and wishing that I had a spot for a bookstore again in my own town, I remember that Bed Bath & Beyond closed in the same plaza. Not only would that location be a perfect size for a Barnes & Noble, it is also right across the street from Starbucks, which is the coffee shop that is regularly seen inside of a Barnes & Noble. According to the American Booksellers Association, local bookstores contribute to increasing property values in the surrounding area, creating jobs, and keeping money circulating in the community. I fail to see a downside to bringing a bookstore back and I know I am not alone in wanting this. We must get the attention of Barnes & Noble to come to Sebring Florida soon before the location is taken by another company.
