On October 3rd, with no prior warnings, information, or consultation with students, the University's "board of trustees" abruptly ended the college owned and student operated WCSB, 89.3 FM. The board, comprising largely of business owners, including the disgraced billionaire owner of the Guardians, Paul Dolan, have ceded ownership of the beautiful station over to Ideastream to play jazz music, something no one asked for, and no one wants. Ideastream already manages 3 radio stations in Northeast Ohio. The move to end the college radio is also budget neutral according to Laura Bloomberg, the president, making individuals question the reason for a sudden switch in policy. The reasoning provided was the opening of "internships," but a handful of these could never replace the 100+ shows put on by CSU, representing a diverse, ad-free musical experience.
