Bring back the Sonic statue to The Gate, Newcastle
The Issue
current progress: FunStation replied saying they will try get in touch with SEGA to try bring a statue to the gate. SEGA will have the last say if we get a statue or not. also waiting response from the chronicle.
i’m writing this because for a long time from 2020 until last year or early this year we have had a life size statue of sonic in the window of the gate.
i understand this statue belonged to time world which was a arcade in the gate and was linked to sonic so when time world shut down they had to take the statue with them. although i have so many memories with this statue even if it was just in a window.
it has become a part of history for the nerds like me in newcastle since not anywhere near us is any sonic attractions. so seeing this statue played a big part for us.
but when this statue was taken you can imagine our reaction. i believe there is a new arcade opening up according to google which can open a new chance for a sonic statue. and even there’s not we need a statue back to keep the legacy of sonic in newcastle going.
even though it sounds really stupid and silly to some it’s something that’s important to us. and we want the gate to listen to us that hat statue wasn’t just a statue for us. it was a chance to connect with eachother.
this petition will hopefully get through to the gates management to make a change and get a sonic statue back in its place where it belongs. this will make many of us happy like the gamers, the nerds, families who pass by who used to play the older games, or even tourists not expecting to see sonic in a place like this. this statue gave us community. bring a little bit of magic back to us please. and get this life size sonic statue back! 🦔
i also found out that the statue belonged to a store (which i believe is yuMe world) but we now need to contact SEGA AMUSEMENTS INTERNATIONAL!!! so i will be emailing them but if you would also like to email them to help this cause that would be much appreciated although just signing this petition is more then enough!!
our new goal is to make sega amusements international aware of the situation and how much we care about the statue so we can convince them to take back the statue. but we also need to convince a company like funstation which will soon be coming to the gate to take in the statue! and hopefully we can get this statue took in!
