Bring back the Pump It Up dance machine to Lawrenceville, GA Dave&Buster's
The Issue
Since before I can remember, the Pump It Up dance machine was a cherished attraction at Dave & Buster's in Lawrenceville, Georgia. For many years, it wasn't just a dance game; it was a gathering for anyone that wanted to jam and have fun with people of similar hobbies. Before its unfortunate removal in 2020 due to space and management decisions, this machine was pivotal in bringing people together, fostering friendships, and creating an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie.
I personally hold many memories tied to this game. It was something that I always looked forward to during the weekends after work or school, whether it was friends challenging each other to dance-offs or groups gathering to witness thrilling sets. This dance machine offered not just entertainment but also a sense of togetherness and nostalgia that many of us long for. It's hard to forget all the time I've spent here with friends that I sadly don't see too much of anymore.
Over time, I learned from a discussion with management that their policy permitted only one dance machine per location. Given the time, they opted for the newer Dance Dance Revolution machine. While we appreciate the new DDR machine, it's vital to recognize the emotional ties and joy that Pump It Up brought to countless people. Many of them moved on to other locations but those places were never convenient location-wise to dedicate a group meet-up without extensive planning. There was something magical about just meeting up at a place with no clear schedule and just hang out with other people together, just jamming and having a good time dancing.
Statistics show that arcades have seen a revival globally in recent times, partly due to the resurgence of retro gaming. Nostalgia-driven attractions have proven to increase foot traffic and customer retention. Over time, I've seen newer games be introduced to Dave and Buster's that are fun but don't hit the same way. I think that by reintroducing a Pump It Up machine, Lawrenceville Dave & Buster's could further distinguish itself as a unique entertainment venue that honors both new and classic experiences.
We urge Dave and Buster's management to reconsider their decision and bring back the Pump It Up dance machine. Let’s reignite the dancing spirit, foster new and old connections, and uplift the lively ambiance that defined our treasured Lawrenceville location! If you have any videos or pictures from back in the day, please share them and let them know that this is something that we cherished through the years and we would like to bring them back!
Please sign this petition to show your support for adding a Pump It Up dance machine at Lawrenceville Dave & Buster's, and help us restore a beloved community tradition.
