Bring Back the PATrain

The Issue

I am not a resident of Western Pennsylvania, but I have a deep appreciation for the Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) former PATrain commuter rail service. The PATrain, also known as Mon Valley Commuter Rail, was an integral part of the transportation system in the Monongahela Valley. It began its service in 1975 and ended tragically short in 1989. This rail line provided essential connections from Pittsburgh to Versailles via McKeesport.

The discontinuation of this service has left a void that is yet to be filled satisfactorily by other modes of transport. The PATrain was more than just a train; it was an embodiment of community spirit and connectivity that brought people together.

Reinstating the PRT PATrain would not only serve as a tribute to Pennsylvania's rich history but also provide an efficient and sustainable mode of transport for residents commuting between these areas daily.

Let us urge PRT to bring back this iconic commuter rail service, which once played such an important role in our communities' lives. Please sign this petition to show your support for reinstating the PRT PATrain commuter rail service!
