The fence by the NVOT high school’s track and football field used to have a section where students could walk in and out easily to access the field for practice, watching sports games, and for just walking home. 
Recently, the decision was made to take that part of the fence out so there is no other way around but to climb over it. This can lead to some students or people getting injured, and is super inconvenient for kids who play sports, watch sports, or who live near the fence and used to walk through that opening to get home.

If the issue needing to be resolved was too many people parking on Howard Drive, which hasn’t ever been much of an issue until now, then we need more parking spots closer to the field, not modifications to the fence that provides easy access for all students to get in and out.

Furthermore, more parking spaces will help ease the minds of juniors and seniors in the crowded school parking lot that can’t always fit everyone, as well as help lower stress and anger levels for students when trying to get both in and out of that parking lot. Also, an additional solution could be to put up “no parking” signs by the small dead end street next to the fence. That way there is nobody parking there and people can still easily access the track and field when needed.

This gate shouldn’t be closed based of a single person’s complain. Listen to the majority. Work with the community.
