The officials at the fringe box offices have made the bonkers decision to remove the ultra-useful Edinburgh Fringe App. 

The app allows users to buy tickets, keep a diary of their shows plus it has directions to venues and such. 

MOST IMPORTATLY - the app features a Now and Nearby function that allows punters to simply 'take a punt' this function is invaluable for the smaller fringe shows. The shows that can't afford massive advertising campaigns or promo budgets. Smaller shows will often tell you that around 50% of their audience come from the App.  

The Fringe spods are pleading poverty while sitting in a fancy new office, paid for by performers money.  
 

The organisers of the guide knew there would be no App in December but didn't make a statement on it until July. AFTER acts had paid their money to register (between 300 - 400 pounds) 

IF the Fringe actions were that of incompetence rather than bad faith then we ask that the app be reinstated ASAP or that we are at very least refund 50% of our registration fees. 

It's hard for me to see this as anything other than an attack on small shows. The smaller shows tend to be more diverse in background and in content, It is therefore hard for me to see this as anything other than an attack on diversity and inclusion by gatekeepers
