On March 27th, 2026, the Economics Department of Dalhousie University took the couches in the student lounge away from the students. These couches were loved and used by undergraduate, master, and PHD students. We often take short naps on the cozy couches to recharge. Without the couches, the student lounge feels empty and cold. These couches provide a comfortable place for student to restore energy to power through the rest of the day. The couches provide a safe space for students to hangout and socialise. When they took the couches away, they took the soul of the Econ Basement and left it on the sidewalk. The world became black and white, the rain started pouring, the stock market crashed,  the supply and demand graph is out of equilibrium. We would love to have the couches back as it is an essential part of the Econ Basement. These couches is something we can always rely on, and lie on. If you feel sad, you can always go into the student lounge and curl up on one of these couches. The couches are not just supportive for your back, they also act as an emotional support for economics student. Please sign this petition, we need your help to bring the couches back. Thank you.
