To the City of Lancaster Department of Building and Safety: We are the owners of Boss Chic Coffee Bar, a boutique and coffee bar that has become a creative, cozy, and community-rooted space in Lancaster. While our boutique remains open, our coffee bar—the main reason many customers come in—has been closed for over a month due to unresolved delays in kitchen plan approvals from the Department of Building and Safety. We’ve done our part. Our plans are ready. But despite multiple attempts to contact the city, we’ve been met with radio silence—no updates, no callbacks, no movement. These delays are directly impacting our ability to operate and grow as a small business. What’s worse is that during this pause, our shop has gone viral across TikTok and Instagram, with videos reaching up to 5 million views and hundreds of thousands of people engaging with our content online. We’re getting attention from all over the city and beyond—but when customers show up, they can’t even order a cup of coffee. We need your help.
