UPDATE: Media Coverage, Petition Improvements & Ongoing Dialogue
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a few important updates to keep you informed on where things stand.
1. NOW Toronto published an article about this issue
Some of you may have already seen it, but I realized I hadn’t shared it here yet. The article was published on February 18, and I had the opportunity to speak with the reporter as part of the story.
If you haven’t read it yet, you can find it here:
This coverage has helped bring more visibility to what happened at Birchmount Park and reinforces how important this issue is to our community.
2. The petition text and title have been updated
As many of you have shared new information, experiences, and insights, I’ve revised the petition to better reflect what we’ve learned.
The updated version makes our core message clearer:
the area lost its only public tennis courts through a consultation process that did not meaningfully reach the people who actually used them.
Thank you to everyone who helped strengthen the message through your comments.
3. The Councillor’s office has responded and is now in communication with us
We have begun corresponding with the office, and while we don’t have answers yet, it’s a positive step that they are engaging. I will keep you informed as this develops.
Thank you again to everyone who has signed, shared, and supported this cause. Your voice matters, and your support has been crucial in bringing this issue into the public eye.
This effort is still ongoing, and we’re not giving up.
Please continue sharing the petition with neighbours, parents, students, coaches, and anyone in the community who may not yet know what happened at Birchmount Park.
Together, we can keep pushing for a fair review and the restoration of public tennis in our area.
