First look at the discontinued Sugar Cookie from Golden Corral

 

This is an obscure photo of a star shaped sugar cookie from Golden Corral. These colorful and seasonal sugar cookies on a stick were the childhood of many Golden Corral diners over the years of their existence. They would be dipped with the legendary chocolate fountain, across many Golden Corral locations in the US. These cookies have been around for longer than 2009, but have sadly been discontinued around early 2017. This change have made me less engaging with the dessert selections ever since, as these fancy sugar cookies have brought memories and accompanied my appetite. Golden Corral's sugar cookies today are round and bland, and tasting them did not rekindle the previous experiences with my beloved sugar cookies. Personally, I prefer these colorful cookies over Crumbl cookies and even Potbelly's sugar cookies. That is how good they were.

 

How these Sugar Cookies became a symbol of the franchise in my book

 

That's correct! Only symbol and only dessert I would associated Golden Corral with. A friend of mine went to Golden Corral in mid 2014, and she had brought one of these cookies and a cotton candy stick by my place. I didn't know what Golden Corral was at the time, and I have tried both desserts. The cookie won my love, and it soon became my first taste of the Golden Corral. It's the only item I've ever asked to-go orders for. Seeing it discontinued have broke hearts of fans and left me in shock. I still remember these to this day, and it's the one Golden Corral menu item I won't be forgetting.

 

Let's take a look on how these cookies change by season during their availability period.

 

During the Valentines season, they are slightly altered and resemble a more heart shape. Tastes are not different in each kind of sugar cookie, but it well adds some festivity, unlike the current sugar cookies which I will explain later. Come pre-2017 Halloween seasons, pumpkin shaped sugar cookies would appear at Golden Corral. There is a visual change in the mysteriously known star shaped sugar cookies. Again, this adds a pleasant visual effect on the sugar cookies but not necessarily flavor. The pumpkin cookie is the spotlight of a Halloween Facebook image, which I have to applaud for giving some love to them this time.

 

When star shaped sugar cookies at Golden Corral were avaliable, they would be altered with green colored Christmas tree cookies. In this case, the taste also remains that of Star cookies. This image features the tree sugar cookie by a white chocolate fountain. These cookies are favorable for the upcoming holidays and time of giving! 

 

Current Sugar Cookies - appearent replacement of  Discontinued Sugar Cookies

 

This is the current available sugar cookie on the menu. As you can see, the cookie is just round and is deprived of color, pisass. I have had these cookies once and was not pleasantly surprised by the new sugar cookie. These were much less softer and sweeter in my experience. The new version of sugar cookies were just not as special, and especially look too similar to the other cookies. Consequently, there was no stick for these cookies for diners to use when the chocolate fountain was around in my location. This change degraded them, and made sugar cookies less compatible with the fountains. 

So, as a result the star, sometimes seasonal, sugar cookies from Golden Corral have shed in some light to my dining experience, and with the removal and replacement of these cookies, it has left a bitter outcome. Fans would love to see these shaped sugar cookies back on stick containers everytime they walk past that entrance and when they peep on the dessert section.
