Children at Central Elementary deserve the same level of education in art, music and P.E. as other Elementary students within the Valparaiso Community School District. In 2021, the district combined STEM, music, art, and P.E. for grades K thru 5 at Central Elementary but at no other elementary school in the system. We want our teachers back. We want teachers with music degrees, art degrees, and physical education degrees back at Central Elementary school. We aren't asking for anything more than what is offered to every other school in the district.

If Valparaiso Community Schools are “committed to excellence” why are we the only elementary school only “meeting state requirements” with one teacher covering STEM, music, art, and P.E. for all Central Elementary students when other schools are exceeding state requirements for art, music, and physical education by requiring teachers with those respective degrees?

Administration executed unfair and unrealistic expectations upon one teacher for reasons unbeknownst to me. It is unfair to ask a teacher to be Yoyo Ma, Vincent Van Gogh, Flo Jo, and Bill Nye. By combining these specific specialties into one position, Dr. McCall is devaluing the specialized degrees other music, art, and physical education teachers in the district who have earned and have educated our children for decades. 

BRING BACK OUR music, art, and  P.E. teachers with music, art, or P.E. degrees.
