📸 The Pool May Be Gone, But the Magic is Still Under That Grass
I went down to Somerset Park today and stood right at the top of the hill.
I took a few pictures of the spot where our pool used to sit. I was one of those kids who spent my summers flying down that hill—and when I look at that spot today, I don't just see grass. I hear the splashing, I see the lifeguards who felt like our second family, the laughter, the smell of Coppertone sunblock and Cucumber After-Sun Body Mist from The Body Shop, Bugles packed for snacking, and the echoes of a neighborhood full of kids living their best summer lives.
It is still such a magical spot. That sparkling blue water where we spent endless days is hidden beneath that beautiful lawn, but the spirit of this park hasn't gone anywhere. The memories are rooted right there, waiting for us to bring them back to life for a whole new generation.
