The Issue

Attending Archbishop Wood High School has always been an enjoyable experience, particularly during breaks or lunchtime. These moments allow us to bond with our friends, strengthening our community spirit. One key part of these leisure activities was playing Skribbl.io, an engaging and fun online game that not only took our minds off the academic rigor but also honed our creative and problem-solving skills in a playful environment.

Unfortunately, Skribbl.io has been blocked, depriving us of a beloved pastime. This game was more than just entertainment; it was a tool for creativity and learning, encouraging us to express ourselves artistically and think quickly. Many of us felt a concrete difference since its removal – our breaks and lunchtimes are not as lively and communal as they once were.

It is understandable that there may have been concerns about bandwidth and proper use of break times, but we believe there is a way to balance these concerns while reinstating Skribbl.io. Limiting access to designated times, such as only during lunchtime or other non-instructional periods, could effectively address any potential concerns from the administration.

Additionally, we propose having a monitoring system in place. Perhaps a rotation of student leaders could oversee proper use during games to ensure that time is spent productively and respectfully.

This doesn't just affect a small group; it's an initiative to enhance the broader school environment. According to studies by the NPD Group, digital playtime like Skribbl.io helps with teamwork, elevates moods, and can positively impact students' performance in classroom settings.

Please join us in petitioning Archbishop Wood High School to bring back Skribbl.io. By signing this petition, you are supporting an environment that nurtures not only academic achievement but also social interaction, creativity, and mental well-being. Let's work together to make our school a place where learning is complemented by joy and community bonding.
