When I was a little boy, every Saturday was a magical day at Finger Lakes Race Track. The air would buzz with excitement as families gathered from around New York to enjoy the thrill of the races. The grandstands, full of laughter and cheers, would be densely packed with generations, all sharing in the joy of this family tradition.

However, in recent years, the cherished tradition of Saturday racing has disappeared, leaving a void in our community. Families like mine are missing the opportunity to bond over the excitement of a day at the races, and the track is missing out on a chance to connect with new generations of racing fans. This change has impacted local businesses too, which benefited from the increased weekend foot traffic.

Returning Saturday racing to Finger Lakes Race Track would not only revive a beloved tradition but also support the local economy. Families, who may have other commitments during weekdays, would once more have the opportunity to gather, relax, and enjoy the races. Children growing up today could create the same cherished memories that filled my childhood.

I propose that the management of Finger Lakes Race Track reinstates Saturday races. By doing so, they would once again become a weekend destination for families and racing enthusiasts alike, offering them the chance to recapture the vibrancy and excitement that Saturdays once brought.
