Bring back real yearning

Bring back real yearning
The Issue
Real yearning should come back.
The kind that hums beneath the ribs,
that gathers slowly like storm-warm rain,
that makes the world feel a little more alive
just because someone’s name crosses your mind.
Somewhere along the way, we misplaced it.
We learned to treat love like a casual phrase,
a word tossed around without weight or wonder—
as if affection were disposable,
as if longing were embarrassing,
as if softness were something to hide.
Society forgot that yearning is a sacred ache,
a trembling honesty,
a quiet, beautiful risk.
The truest love is never loud or careless;
it is gentle in its wanting,
tender in its truth,
steady in its devotion.
But we need it again—
that slow, genuine, aching kind of love
that doesn’t rush,
that doesn’t pretend,
that doesn’t turn feeling into a performance.
Real yearning should return
like a long-awaited breath,
reminding us that hearts are meant to be felt,
not masked—
and that love, when it is honest and soft and true,
is still the most human thing we have.
