The Issue

We are losing something fundamental: the right to truly own what we buy.

For decades, physical discs gave us real ownership. A game or movie on disc is yours forever. It works offline, can be resold, lent to friends, collected, or passed to the next generation. It cannot be remotely deleted, region-locked after purchase, or made unplayable when a company shuts down its servers.

Even massive titles like GTA VI are now shipping so-called “physical” copies that contain nothing but a redemption code in an empty box — no actual disc. This is not physical media.

The move to digital-only is not progress — it is a dangerous transfer of power. When everything becomes a license instead of a product, companies can revoke your access at any time. Your library can shrink or disappear overnight. This is not ownership.

You will own nothing.

We call on publishers, platforms, and retailers to bring back physical disc releases as a standard option for every major title. True ownership, long-term preservation, and consumer rights must not be sacrificed for convenience and control.

Sign this petition and demand the return of physical media before it’s too late.
