We, the undersigned students, respectfully request that Perth Modern School reintroduce official school track pants as an optional winter uniform item for Terms 2 and 3, as they have been in previous years.

During the cooler months, many students would benefit from having the option to wear track pants that provide greater warmth, comfort and practicality while still meeting the school's uniform standards. Having the choice to wear track pants would allow students to stay comfortable throughout the school day, whether they are in class, walking between buildings, travelling to and from school, or taking part in outdoor activities.

Providing track pants as an optional uniform item would also support students who prefer or require more full-coverage clothing for personal, cultural or religious reasons, ensuring that all students have an appropriate and inclusive uniform option.

We also ask that the reintroduced track pants be made from a more comfortable, flexible and durable fabric than the previous version. A softer, higher-quality material would improve comfort, allow for greater freedom of movement, and make the track pants more suitable for everyday wear. This would enhance the student experience while maintaining the professional appearance expected of the Perth Modern School uniform.

Reintroducing track pants would not require a change to the existing uniform policy. They would simply return as an optional winter uniform item, giving students the choice to wear them during Terms 2 and 3, as has previously been the case. Students who prefer to wear shorts or other approved uniform items would still be able to do so.

Bringing back track pants would also provide a practical option for students participating in Physical Education, sporting activities, excursions and other school events, particularly during colder weather. A comfortable and well-designed pair of track pants would be a versatile addition to the school uniform and could be worn across a range of school activities.

As a school that values student wellbeing, inclusion and academic success, providing comfortable and weather-appropriate uniform options is a simple yet meaningful way to support students. Reintroducing an improved version of the official school track pants would offer greater comfort and flexibility while continuing to uphold the high standards and presentation of the Perth Modern School uniform.
