Bring back PCC's monthly 10% off coupon

Bring back PCC's monthly 10% off coupon
The Issue
Current and potential cooperative members - please sign this petition to request that the PCC Board of Trustees bring back the monthly 10% off coupon.
Before 2020, PCC offered all cooperative members (and staff) a monthly 10% off coupon to use on any visit. These coupons were replaced with an annual patronage dividend in 2020.
Members received an annual dividend equal to 0.2% (two-tenths of 1%) of their 2021 purchases. Members received ZERO dividend for 2022 OR 2023 purchases.
With food costs at an all time high, a 10% off monthly coupon would be a huge benefit to current members and staff, and appeal to potential members to help grow the co-op!
In 2019, a PCC "task force" concluded that because only 40% of members made regular use of this monthly coupon, that an annual dividend would benefit members best. At the time of the policy change, the projected annual dividend was 2%. The task force recognized that grocery stores have a slim margin of profit. After three years of falling far short of their 2% goal, it's a wonder how this benefit model was thought to better serve cooperative members! It seems like it was just an opportunity for PCC to continue rapid expansion (leading to their net loss in profits last year) without the accountability of maintaining predictible benefits for members.
Despite rebranding with "Community Market" signs, let's not forget that PCC stood for Puget Consumers Co-op. And as a food co-op, providing members with the best value for high quality food should be a top priority for the Board.
