The Issue

Since mandatory tandem parking was introduced, parking at our building has gone from something simple and convenient to something residents have to plan their lives around.

Under the new system, roommates are forced to coordinate constantly just to access their own cars. We have to figure out who is leaving first, who is coming home later, who needs to park in front, and whether someone will be available to move their car. A last-minute errand, an early shift, a late night, an appointment, or an unexpected change of plans can now mean texting roommates, waiting for someone to come downstairs, or moving multiple cars just so one person can leave.

For residents assigned to the higher floors of the garage, this is even more frustrating. What used to be as simple as parking and going home can now involve driving up multiple levels, rearranging vehicles, and coordinating schedules every day.

The biggest problem is simple: residents should not have to depend on another person being available in order to access their own vehicle.

Before mandatory tandem parking, we had a system that gave residents much more flexibility and independence. It worked. Residents could come and go without having to organize their schedules around their roommates’ cars.

The new system has taken that convenience away and shifted the responsibility of making the parking arrangement work onto residents. Roommates with completely different work, school, and personal schedules are now expected to coordinate their movements every day. That creates unnecessary delays, frustration, and conflict.

We understand that management has to organize parking efficiently. But a parking system should not only work on paper — it needs to work for the residents who use it every day.

What We Are Asking For
We are asking management to end mandatory tandem parking and restore the previous parking arrangement that gave residents greater flexibility and independent access to their vehicles.

If restoring the previous system exactly as it was is not possible, we ask management to work with residents on an alternative that provides the same basic benefit: the ability to access and use our vehicles without constantly coordinating with roommates.

This is not a request for a luxury or special treatment. It is a request to reconsider a change that has made an everyday part of living here significantly more difficult.

We had a system that worked better. We are asking management to bring it back.

If you live here and have been affected by the new tandem parking arrangement, please sign this petition and help show management that this is not an isolated complaint — it is a community-wide concern.
