LGBTQ+ Rights for Cedar Heights Students

The Issue

We are trying to support the LGBTQ+ kids of the school and the principal is trying to take the LGBTQ+ books out of our library. We are trying to bring back the books and get our equal rights; it’s not fun just walking to your next class and get called the F slur for just being gay, or being called a tr4nny for being transgender. Being called gay is not an insult and we can’t help but feel this way, it’s not our faults, and we have to bring this to an end.

Some parents think it’s bad to expose their children to these kinds of subjects, which leads to them thinking they may be weird or wrong. This is when they call out people that are different and put them down for expressing themselves in what they thought was a safe environment. I know some of the teachers are trying their best to make this a healthy learning environment, but I can’t help but feel unsafe when I’m getting made fun of for being bisexual, and the other kids of the school likely feel the same.
