The Issue

I remember the first time I tried Takis; it was nothing short of a revelation. The intense flavor and vibrant colors captured me instantly, making it my go-to snack for every occasion. Nothing quite compared to the electric blue and fiery red that was as much a treat for the eyes as it was for the taste buds. But, recently, I noticed a change—a noticeable absence of the neon hues that once defined Takis. The artificial colors and TBHQ were removed, leaving a void that no other snack can fill.

I understand why companies are shifting towards cleaner labels, and it's a commendable move. However, there's still a significant number of us who miss that nostalgic taste and the thrilling visual experience that old-school Takis provided. What if there was a way to enjoy the best of both worlds?

I'm calling on Takis to consider introducing a dual lineup. Instead of completely phasing out the original formulation, they could offer a separate product line that continues to include the artificial colors and TBHQ for those who appreciate that classic experience. This would maintain the option for health-conscious consumers who prefer the newer, cleaner versions, while also satisfying those like myself who long for the iconic flavors and colors.

The recent decision to remove TBHQ and certified synthetic dyes has fundamentally compromised the longevity and pantry reliability that fans have always counted on. By eliminating these crucial preserving agents, the shelf life of our favorite snack has been dramatically cut short, with many bags now expiring as early as January 2027. True Takis enthusiasts know that a great snack shouldn't just taste intense; it needs to stay fresh and retain its signature crispness over time. Forcing a shorter expiration date onto consumers changes the entire snacking experience and leads to unnecessary food waste. We are calling on Grupo Bimbo, and Barcel USA to bring back the original, long-lasting formula with the artificial colors and TBHQ that kept our chips perfectly preserved and tasting exactly the way they were meant to.

This change wouldn't just bring joy to loyal fans, but it would also align with a diverse market strategy, allowing Takis to cater to varying consumer preferences without sacrificing their commitment to health-conscious choices.

If you, too, miss the original Takis, or want to see both options coexist, join me in supporting this petition. Let's convince Takis that there's room on the shelf for both the nostalgic neon snacks we love and their newer, cleaner siblings. Sign the petition and bring back the Takis you remember!
