Bring Back Old Movement Animations. (Chapter 4 movement)

The Issue

A major portion of the Fortnite playerbase is extremely dissatisfied with the current movement animations in Fortnite. It has been two years since the change, but the #BRINGBACKOMPP (bring back old movement and pickaxe pullout) is refusing to give up. This is an issue that deserves maximum priority and should be implemented as soon as possible.

*Old movement animations DO NOT mean mechanics like sliding, tactical sprinting, mantling, etc. The peak of Fortnite animations was in Chapter 4. Refer to those animations to understand what we need.

Why are we so passionate?

  • We are absolutely not blinded by nostalgia. The look of the old animations is smooth, fluid, and timeless. We cannot stand watching our characters in-game flail around when we know what we once had.
  • It was not a huge deal for the average player because it did not affect the mechanics of fighting, but those who pay attention to the details and love to freebuild were outraged
  • Our harvesting tools/pickaxes used to pull out instantly. The popular, classic look of pickaxe editing (pulling out your pickaxe between builds) is ruined. It must be fully revealed the instant you press your pickaxe button, as it did in Chapter 4.
    • We bought these pickaxes; we deserve the right to use them as they looked when we purchased them.

We understand that it is unrealistic to fully replace the current movement animations (the pickaxe pullout should be implemented everywhere, regardless).

How can old movement animations be implemented without interference?

  1. A toggle in the settings menu. This may be difficult to create, but if the player could choose which animations they prefer, that would be amazing. New movement surely has different mechanics, so do not bother if true Chapter 4 animations cannot be achieved.
  2. Allow map creators to add the old animations to their islands. The creator can decide what animations everyone on their map has. This is one of the best options because the majority of those upset are creative players who enjoy freebuilding.
    • If this is implemented, the OG mode should have this as well, so it can be true to OG.
  3. Purchaseable cosmetic animations in the item shop. This fully benefits Fortnite - a huge community wants old movement animations? That is unbelievably lucrative! Though again, if this cannot be true to chapter 4 animations, we would not be fully satisfied.

Why Fortnite and Epic Games BENEFIT from this change

  • A surprising number of players quit the game entirely due to these changes. These players will likely return, and those who did not quit will play a lot more.
    • I do not know the true number, but as a creator with almost 30,000 subscribers, I have seen countless people quit.
    • If the animations are brought back correctly, the player count will skyrocket.
  • If movement animations can be purchased with V-Bucks, there will be a massive spike in sales.
  • So many players have fallen out of love with the game. Make us love Fortnite again!

My full explanation:

In conclusion, the old movement animations are not just animations to us. For freebuilders like me, the movement animations were like an elegant paintbrush with perfect bristles. When new animations were introduced, it felt like that paintbrush was ripped from our hands, and we were given a kid's toy paintbrush with scratchy bristles. It is an art form, and we cannot live without these animations.
