BRING BACK MS. KIRSTEN SAUNDERS
The Issue
BUCHANAN NEEDS EXPERIENCE • LEADERSHIP • CONTINUITY
Our Magnet. Our School. Our Voice.
Buchanan Street Elementary families are coming together to advocate for the return and continued placement of Ms. Kirsten
Saunders as our Magnet Coordinator.
With more than 20 years of experience at Buchanan Street Elementary, Ms. Saunders brings valuable institutional knowledge,
leadership, community relationships, and a deep commitment to our students and families.
EXPERIENCE MATTERS — More than 20 years of experience at Buchanan means Ms. Saunders understands our students,
families, programs, history, and school community.
SHE KNOWS OUR MAGNET PROGRAM — Her experience provides important leadership and continuity for students, families, and
the future of our Magnet program.
HER CONTRIBUTIONS GO BEYOND MAGNET — Ms. Saunders supports opportunities that benefit the broader Buchanan
community, including after-school programs such as E-Sports and Computer Science for Good, as well as grant writing and
educational opportunities for students.
STRONG COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS — She has built lasting relationships with families, staff, community partners, and
organizations that benefit Buchanan.
SHE HELPS GROW BUCHANAN — Ms. Saunders actively helps promote enrollment in all of Buchanan's programs by hosting
school tours for prospective families. She also gives her own personal time to attend high-parent-visibility events, including El
Mercado and other local community events, to promote Buchanan and encourage families to enroll.
WHAT WE ARE ASKING
We respectfully urge Buchanan and LAUSD leadership to bring Ms. Kirsten Saunders back to Buchanan Street Elementary as our Magnet Coordinator and preserve the experienced leadership our Magnet program and entire school community
deserve.
THIS IS ABOUT OUR CHILDREN. OUR SCHOOL. OUR FUTURE.
