Since the dawn of time itself, students attending Tufts University have enjoyed meals at Commons Marketplace, dubbed "Commons." The same is true for the beloved Hotung Cafe.

Unfortunately, these two locations are bound by an additional trait, apart from delicious food: they are among the few places to eat on campus that do not accept the university's meal swipes, which are included in many meal plans.

After a poll on social media revealed strong support for the implementation of a meal-swipe based solution at Commons and Hotung, this petition was created.

Students want to have more choices for dining locations on campus, and I truly believe I speak for everyone when I say that accepting meal swipes is a terrific first step in making that goal more accessible. Some students can spend thousands of dollars on meal plans, just to find that those meal swipes are only allowed at certain locations.

Tufts Dining does tremendous work behind the scenes for the university– and that should not be overlooked. Without those amazing people, the school could not function. Accepting meal swipes at Commons and Hotung is just one way that Tufts Dining could make food more accessible and affordable.

Let's make Commons and Hotung the best they can be!
