Bring back late bus for Taunton High School

Bring back late bus for Taunton High School
The Issue
Last year, I was forced to give up participating in school sports and clubs due to the lack of transportation. This was not just an inconvenience but a major disappointment. Like many students in Taunton, MA, I relied on the late bus service to get home safely after extracurricular activities. Without it, students are struggling to find alternatives, and many, like myself, miss out on the enriching experiences and opportunities these activities provide.
Taunton's late bus service was more than just a means of transportation; it was a crucial support system for students who wanted to broaden their horizons beyond the classroom. Sports, music, arts, and various clubs contribute significantly to our personal growth, development, and future college applications. They help build character, teamwork, and leadership skills, all of which are essential in today's world.
The removal of the late bus service disproportionately affects students who do not have other means of getting home. Not every family can afford private transport or has flexible schedules to pick up their children after school hours. This lack of access creates an unfair barrier to participation in school activities, further deepening the divide between students who can afford alternative transport and those who cannot.
Let's work together to reinstate the late bus service for the new school year. Our goal is to urge the Taunton School District and local government officials to recognize the indispensable role this service plays in students' lives and education. Funding or supporting a late bus initiative can ensure all students have equal opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities without the worry of how they will get home.
Sign this petition to advocate for our students' right to a well-rounded education and equal access to school resources. Bring back the late bus service to Taunton and ensure no student misses out on valuable after-school programs.
