The Issue

As a longtime fan of the Stronghold series, I was excited to hear about Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition. But I was also disappointed to learn that it won’t support LAN multiplayer  a feature that has been a key part of the Stronghold experience for over twenty years.

For many of us, LAN is not a thing of the past. It’s still the most reliable way to play with friends. There are plenty of situations where internet access is limited or unstable. Schools, clubs, military groups, and people in remote areas still depend on LAN to play games together without problems.

When we’ve tried using online multiplayer in newer Stronghold games, it’s often been frustrating. Getting everyone connected takes time, and we’ve had games crash halfway through or someone disconnect after hours of play without a way to reload a save.

It’s part of the original game. So if you’re remastering it, keep it in! Especially since it’s a key feature of Stronghold Crusader.

Sincerely,
