Bring back JTA bus route 15.

The Issue

We are requesting the complete return of bus route 15 in its entirety as soon as possible.

The cancelled bus route 15 went east from Herlong Airport through Murray Hill and Riverside with stops along Edgewood and Post, McDuff and Post, King Street and College, College and Stockton, and Margaret and College in Five Points. The former bus route then went north into downtown and returned along the same path. This route was cancelled in September of 2021. This abrupt cancellation has disrupted the lives of many of our Jacksonville residents to include many of our senior citizen and handicap residents. For a more detailed explanation please read below:

Route #15 was a major transportation vehicle for residents of the Murray Hill community to get into downtown, Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixie, The IRS building, The Jacksonville Court House, drug stores, laundromats, etc... This particular route has been running for over 40 years. Route #15 used to run from I-295 and Normandy heading east (towards Cassat), past Cassat where Normandy turns into Post St. The route followed along Post through Edgewood, through the McDuff railroad tracks where it continued on down College St. The bus would then go east through Riverside all the way to Brooklyn where it would head North into Downtown.

JTA has made mention that #14 is very similar but 14 circumnavigates the boundaries of Murray Hill, Riverside and Brooklyn completely.

Route #32 runs from Amtrak to Kent Campus and does not run through the heart of Riverside like the #15 did. The #32 runs hourly whereas the #14 runs around every thirty minutes Monday through Friday, so the connection has a long wait period.
#32 doesn’t run on Sunday nor does ReadiRide.

The #14 runs down Edison Avenue to Park Street. Literally outside of the Murray Hill boundry just north of I-10.
From the corner of Post Street and Edgewood Avenue walking north to Lenox Avenue and Edgewood Avenue where you catch the #14 is not ADA compliant because there are no sidewalks from Quincy Street to the Boy Scout’s on Lenox Ave.

We are requesting the complete return of bus route 15 in its entirety as soon as possible.

JTA have told news the bus average 9 riders but as a person that rode this route personally up until the removal there was definitely more than 9 riders average. https://www.firstcoastnews.com/article/news/local/jta-passengers-frustrated-late-buses/77-30aff47a-2fa1-4c87-841e-ed1681887f80
