Since 1969 KNTU radio (88.1 FM) has been a jazz broadcasting station - and almost the only jazz station in the enormous DFW metroplex for over 50 years. This University of North Texas radio station perfectly complimented the incredible and historic music and jazz program at the university.

In July of 2022, the station suddenly shifted to "indie alternative" programming and dropped the jazz format and left over 7 million people in DFW without any jazz radio station.

They said their demographic was too old, and they would stream a jazz station. Wouldn't it make more sense to stream the indie format for the younger audience and leave jazz on the radio? Radio is still used more frequently by the older demographic they cite.
