Bring Back Instagram Hashtags to Their Original Functionality

The Issue

As an avid user of Instagram, I am deeply concerned about the recent changes made to the platform's hashtag feature. These alterations have significantly impacted the visibility of recent posts, hindering small accounts and new users from gaining exposure and engagement. This petition aims to urge Instagram to revert hashtags back to their previous functionality, where recent posts were displayed regardless of popularity.

Personal Story:
I started my journey on Instagram as a passionate content creator with a small following. Like many others, I relied on hashtags as a means of connecting with like-minded individuals and expanding my reach. However, since the change in how hashtags work on Instagram, I have noticed a significant decline in engagement and discoverability for my posts.

Previously, when searching for a specific hashtag or exploring content related to it, users could easily find recent posts alongside popular ones. This allowed newer accounts like mine to be seen by more people who were genuinely interested in our content. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case.

It is disheartening that even if we use relevant tags on our posts now, they often get buried under an avalanche of popular content that has been dominating these hashtags for hours or even days, up to months. As a result, smaller accounts struggle to gain visibility and grow their audience organically.

Facts and Statistics:
1) According to various user reports across social media platforms such as Twitter and Reddit (source: user testimonials), there has been widespread dissatisfaction among creators regarding the current state of Instagram's hashtag feature.
2) The change in how hashtags display results has disproportionately affected smaller accounts trying to establish themselves within their respective communities (source: personal experiences shared by multiple users).
3) Many new users are finding it increasingly challenging to gain traction on their profiles due to limited exposure caused by this alteration (source: conversations with fellow creators).

By reverting back to displaying recent posts in hashtags, Instagram can restore the purpose and effectiveness of this feature. This change would level the playing field for all users, regardless of their account size or popularity. It would foster a more inclusive and supportive environment where content creators can thrive based on the quality of their posts rather than their follower count.

Sign this petition to join me in urging Instagram to listen to its user base and revert hashtags back to when recent posts, no matter how popular, showed up in the hashtag feed. Let us reclaim the power of hashtags and ensure that every user has an equal opportunity to be discovered and appreciated on this platform.

Together, we can make a difference!
