We’re asking Google to restore the legacy dictionary tool that has now been replaced by AI.

While this isn’t a petition against AI - it’s a petition against the growing (frankly, overwhelming) assumption that AI is a fundamental improvement over systems that already worked exceptionally well.

Google’s legacy dictionary was one of those systems. The tool was fast, intuitive, reliable, and gave people exactly what they were looking for without complexity. It did its job and did it well.

Replacing it with AI generated results has left many frustrated. This “update” solved a problem that simply didn’t exist. 

As companies race to integrate AI into every product, it’s worth remembering that newer doesn’t always mean better. Not everything needs an AI overhaul. Innovation should improve the user experience, not replace it to follow a trend.  It’s important to recognize that effective, thoughtfully designed human created tools still have value.
