Bring back fan-favorite Adversary Modes to GTA Online

O problema

Rockstar, Adversary Modes have always been an essential part of GTA Online. Since 2015, over 50 of them have been released — some became true fan favorites while others are completely unique experiences within the game.

However, since their removal in 2021, they’ve only returned for limited time. Currently, the only Adversary Mode permanently available is Sumo (Remix), which is far from enough given the variety and quality of the modes that once existed. This system is frustrating, as players are often forced to wait a long time for their favorite Adversary Mode to come back, only to enjoy it for a single week. On top of that, some modes return far more often than others, some come back without any bonuses, and several haven’t made a single appearance since 2021

Below are four possible solutions you could take with Adversary Modes. You decide what works best, but please, let the fans play their favorite modes again. Even solutions 2 or 4 I will show would already be enough, since they would at least bring back the most popular and unique Adversary Modes. Just let us enjoy the game — you’ve made so many great Jobs, and there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to play them.

I kindly ask you to reconsider bringing them back permanently, especially now that GTA Online is entering the final stage of its life cycle. Let us enjoy the Jobs we love while there’s still time!

And please, don’t let this situation happen again with GTA VI Online. I understand the intent behind trying to improve matchmaking, but the solution cannot be removing 99% of the Adversary Modes. Instead, a more balanced approach would work — for example, keeping every game mode available but limiting them to one map each or prioritizing the best and most unique ones to remain permanently. Something like this, similar to what I’m suggesting for GTA V Online, would ensure matchmaking quality while also preserving the amazing variety of content you’ve created.

Possible solutions to improve the situation of Adversary Modes

1. Bring back all original Adversary Modes

Restore all the original modes along with their full set of maps. This would bring back the variety that was once one of GTA Online’s strong points.

2. Keep fan favorites permanently active

Some modes became classics, and others are unique to the GTA Online experience, being highly requested by the community. These could remain permanently available:

• Hasta La Vista

• Hunting Pack

• Slasher

• Sumo

• Trading Places

• PowerPlay

• Entourage

• Kill Quota

• Deadline

• Turf Wars

• Vehicle Vendetta

• Land Grab

• Tiny Racers

• Overtime Rumble

• Motor Wars

• Stockpile

• Hardest Target

• The Vespucci Job

• Hunting Pack (Remix)

• Running Back (Remix)

• Sumo (Remix)

• The Vespucci Job (Remix)

• Bunker, Missile Base & Diamond Adversary Modes

3. Organize Adversary Modes into “Adversary Series” by player count

Adversary Series would appear as pink markers across the map in specific locations, similar to Featured Series, and would also be accessible from the pause menu. Only 1 map of each mode would be active per week, keeping the list manageable while still letting players enjoy all modes over time.

Up to 4 players

• Hasta La Vista I

• Every Bullet Counts I

• Keep The Pace I

• Deadline I

• Tiny Racers I

• Condemned I

• The Vespucci Job I

• The Vespucci Job (Remix) I

Up to 8 players

• Bunker Every Bullet Counts

• Missile Base Resurrection

4. A mix between items 2 and 3

The same Adversary Modes of item 2 remain, but the maps (I, II, III, etc.) rotate weekly. This allows favorite and unique modes to remain permanently while other modes still enter temporarily in special rotations. Compared to item 3, more maps would be available at the same time, since fewer Adversary Modes would be in the rotation. Adversary Series markers would function just like in item 3, with pink icons on the map and access via the pause menu.

Adversary Series up to 4 players

• Hasta La Vista I, II

• Deadline I, II

• Tiny Racers I, II

• The Vespucci Job I, II

• Bunker Every Bullet Counts

• Missile Base Resurrection
