The Issue

For some crazy reason, someone thought it would be a good idea to take perfection (Doc Martin) and try to duplicate it in the USA with Best Medicine. The diagnosis is in: Doc Martin is beloved perfection; Best Medicine is, well, in the words of the doc himself, “GET OUT OF MY WAY!”

Please, powers that be: bring us back another season of the best characters on television. Please bring us one more season of Port Wenn, England!

Since 2004, Doc Martin has won the hearts of millions worldwide, captivating audiences with its unique blend of dry wit, heartwarming scenes, and charming characters. The show is not just a series; it’s a journey into the picturesque and quirky Cornish village of Port Wenn, with all its eccentric inhabitants. Each episode brings laughter, tears, and an escape into a world where the unusual becomes the norm.

Currently, fans are left yearning for more. The ninth season concluded in 2019, and since then, the village of Port Wenn has felt like a second home to many. The character development, scenic beauty, and fascinating storylines have all created a loyal fanbase that is pleading for the show not to end here. The demand for a tenth season was met, but the finale left us wanting more stories to unfold.

In an attempt to fill the void, a spin-off titled Best Medicine was launched in the USA, but it did not garner the same love and respect as our original Port Wenn tales. Fans unanimously agree that nothing can replicate the magic of the original.

Why is a Season 11 necessary? Because it will not only continue the stories we've so dearly followed but also allow the creators to complete any character arcs that may still be unresolved (like letting Burt Latge finally WIN at something). It provides another opportunity to see the stunning Cornwall locations and experience the immersive storytelling we've grown to cherish.

Moreover, in an era where content is created and consumed faster than ever before, it’s rare for a show to maintain such a devoted audience. Doc Martin’s enduring popularity shows the profound impact it has had, which is why another season promises a secure viewership and undeniable success.

If extending the series is too challenging, at the very least, a Doc Martin movie—much like the successful Downton Abbey and Entourage movies—would serve as a glorious send-off, satisfying fans while preserving the essence of this beloved series.

It’s our plea to the decision-makers to reignite the world of Doc Martin with another season or through a film that honors its legacy. Sign our petition and let the creators know how much Doc Martin means to us all.

PS - About me: my mom introduced this show to me in 2019. The last thing I wanted to watch was some boring British show. Well, it changed my life, showing me what a perfect television show looks like. As anyone who has become a fan knows, you REALLY feel like you’re there, and part of the village, and that those people really live there!  Alas, when I visited Port Isaac (the actual location) in both 2022 solo, and 2025 with my mom, I didn’t see any of them. But absolutely everything else looks exactly the same. Sadly, my mom went to heaven two months ago. She and I have watched the entire show at least 15 times beginning to end. All ten seasons. The show itself became a part of the family. And today, I continue to watch it over and over and over, not only because it reminds me of mom, but because it’s just so so good.  And it deserves one more season. Or at least one satisfying two-hour movie theater finale. Even if you don’t know the show, sign it for me and my mom. We all deserve one more bite of the apple!
