Our middle school students are being left behind.

Right now, kids across Cobb County spend long school days sitting in classrooms with no time to stretch, play, or reset. Parents see the difference — our children come home stressed, tired, and disconnected. They deserve better.

Georgia law clearly states that all students in kindergarten through eighth grade are entitled to unstructured break time each day. Yet, Cobb County’s current policy denies this right to middle schoolers. That’s not just unfair — it’s harmful to their well-being, focus, and overall development.

We’re asking the Cobb County School Board to fix this policy and bring back daily recess for middle school students. Recess isn’t just playtime — it’s proven to boost mental health, improve attention, and help kids succeed in class. Let’s stand together to make sure our children get the breaks they need and the rights they’re guaranteed under state law.
