Bring Back Colin Treverrow for His Version of Star Wars: Episode IX

The Issue

I am a lifelong fan of the Star Wars franchise, and I've found myself invested in many character and story arcs it presents. Having followed this large-scale universe, just like other millions of fans, I believe my voice resonates with many others when I say Colin Treverrow's original concept for Star Wars: Episode IX, holds great potential that should not be ignored.

Collin’s concepts had fresh perspective but, sadly, he was removed from the project, which altered not just the direction but the very essence of the final installment of the Skywalker Saga. His vision proposed new roads and intriguing plots that would provide unexpected depth and nuances to our beloved characters, enriching the whole universe that Disney has diligently worked to build upon.

It’s also not a bad business decision. An alternate take of the final installment of the saga would garner big buzz and be an opportunity to make a large profit by bringing back so many of the beloved actors and actresses who left a strong mark on the galaxy far, far away… now some changes are inevitable and the film won’t be exactly as the “leaked” script tells it, but that’s okay, and the film can improve with said changes. For the opening, I believe it is still possible to keep continuity with an advertised pre-movie “non-canonical” disclaimer to avoid confusion for fans. As for the honor of Carrie Fisher’s role, casting her daughter as Leia, and then deepfaking over her, or filming Leia from behind her hooded dress to call back to her original design.

Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 with a monumental $4.05 billion deal, it has since reached greater levels of success and influence, making it more than capable of bringing this fans’ call to life (Forbes, 2012). The Star Wars franchise has never shied away from exploring different creative realms, and rehiring Colin Treverrow opens up an entirely new chapter.

Let's request Disney to hear our appeals, appreciate our fervor for a narrative that’s so intriguing to us. Let's work together to implore Disney to bring back Colin Treverrow to create his vision of Star Wars: Episode IX, “Duel of the Fates.” Lend your support to this cause and bring us one step closer to seeing this exciting version come to life. Please sign this petition and make this film be made.
