The Issue

Who is impacted?
Students are directly impacted by this rule because our classes are 1 ½ hours long, which is a long time without a break. This can lead to fatigue, discomfort, and a lack of focus in the classroom. Teachers are also affected because students become restless and distracted, making it harder to maintain an effective learning environment.

What is at stake?
If this rule stays in place, students will continue to experience decreased concentration, stress, and possible health issues from not being able to use the bathroom when needed. However, if the rule changes, students will benefit from better focus, mental well-being, and overall academic performance. Teachers will also have an easier time managing their classrooms when students’ needs are met in an organized way.

Why is now the time to act?
Immediate action is necessary because these 1 ½ hour classes are happening every day, and students are being affected right now. Delaying this change means continued discomfort and distraction in class. Acting now will show that the school cares about student mental health, safety, and academic success.
