Due to recent actions of a Churchland JV basketball coach impersonating another player during a game on 1/21/23, Portsmouth Public Schools made a decision to reassign Churchland’s Athletic Director. During this game, the AD was out sick.

He was not in a supervisory role during this time, nor was he aware of the coach’s actions. 

Since Mike Whittington became the Churchland’s athletic director, he has turned the programs around. 

Players have new equipment, better stadiums, social media exposure, support from staff, alumnus and athletes with growing interest to attend Churchland High School. 

Portsmouth Public Schools, Portsmouth School Board, Portsmouth Superintendents office, our voices will be heard. 

A viral video seen by people of the nation shouldn’t have an impact on a decision that we make in our hometown. We stand by Coach Whitt and request that he is reinstated as Churchland’s AD.
