When Garrett Stubbs got optioned to AAA in favor of Rafael Marchan, I had a sinking feeling. No offense to Marchan—he’s solid. But Stubbs wasn’t just a backup catcher. He was the heartbeat. The hype man. The guy doing handstands in the dugout while Bryce Harper brooded. The Chief Vibes Officer.

We all know baseball is as mental as it is physical. When morale dips, performance follows. And right now, the boys look flat. Disconnected. Like they’re going through the motions. The talent hasn’t gone anywhere—so what’s missing?

The vibe.

Stubbs brought energy, joy, and just the right amount of chaos. He kept the dugout loose, the clubhouse loud, and the base paths unpredictable. Sending him down in a season where we all believed we had a legitimate World Series run was a bad call.
