Bring Back AP Classes to Essex Tech

Bring Back AP Classes to Essex Tech
The Issue
The administration at Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School has decided to remove most AP classes available to students, limiting students to only one AP class each year. For example, I planned on taking AP Physics during my senior year to challenge myself with the most difficult course load I could schedule in hopes of furthering my education in college. Students throughout our school will be prevented from saving money on college, and students' competitiveness will be limited to top schools across the country. Although students of Essex Tech attend a trade school, students such as myself who wish to keep college options open while learning a trade should be provided an opportunity to take college-level classes.
If these AP courses are removed from the school, students will not have the ability to take these college-level courses to challenge their learning, boost their GPA, and save money on college. This removal of AP classes will also deter prospective students in middle school from attending our school as their future academic curriculum will be handicapped by a lack of AP classes available to students. Students will only be able to take AP Biology, AP English, AP History, and AP Calculus: a minimal 4 options in comparison to the various options we currently offer, the school provides more AP courses as is, so there should be no reason to remove these courses from an already successful curriculum.
Students, caregivers, guardians, parents, and supporters of Essex Tech need to sign this petition into action and bring this issue to the forefront of administrative attention so students throughout the school can keep their learning options open as they progress through the Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School curriculum. Upcoming seniors like myself need these AP opportunities to build our collegiate portfolio, please help out the current and future students of Essex Tech by signing this petition and spreading this petition for others to sign as well.
Sincerely,
Xavier Parsons
