Bring Back a Skating Rink to Columbia, Tennessee

Bring Back a Skating Rink to Columbia, Tennessee
The Issue
We, the residents of Columbia and the surrounding Maury County community, are calling on local leaders, business owners, and investors to support the return of a public skating rink in our area.
For years, a skating rink provided a safe, affordable, and fun place for families, teens, and adults to gather. It created jobs, encouraged physical activity, and gave young people a positive place to spend their time. Since its closure, Columbia has been missing a central space for this kind of community connection.
In the last 10 years, Columbia has grown by more than 35%, that’s a BIG jump for a town this size and has brought in a MUCH better support system for a new rink. New families, young people, and new energy! We’ve lost a place that once brought the community together. A skating rink isn’t just entertainment, it’s something Columbia needs again.
We believe bringing back a skating rink—whether by reopening a previous location or developing a new facility—would:
Provide a safe recreational space for youth and families. Support local jobs and small business growth. Strengthen our sense of community. And offer a healthy, active alternative to screen time.
We urge the Columbia City Council, Maury County officials, and local business leaders to:
Explore opportunities to reopen or build a skating rink.
Partner with private investors or community organizations.
Consider potential locations and funding options.
Our community has spoken—there is real demand for a skating rink in Columbia.
By signing this petition, we show our support for bringing this important piece of our community back to life.
Let’s give Columbia a place to roll again.
