I have been a student at this school since 6th grade, and when we started high school, the lunches were split into two time frames. A and B. The lunches at that time were roughly 45 to 50 minutes. But with the new all school lunch schedule, it’s a calculated 43 minutes. Students that get the school lunches, often had to wait in lines, giving them 30-25 minutes to eat. This was with split lunches meaning that the lines for lunch will be twice as long, leaving students with little to no time to eat. If you have a class on the other side of the school, you may be left with no time to eat, and henceforth resulting in you possibly needing to eat in class. But to those that know, some classes don’t allow food for safety reasons. And if that class happens to be one of yours, then might as well just sit til the end of the day even then, it can be unhealthy. And for those that can go off campus for lunch, they won’t have much time to do so. Getting off of the campus with A or B lunch was tricky enough, but now with 3 other grades that can go off campus? Mission: impossible. This can result in tardiness to class, or even absences of students who weren’t able to return in the short amount of time. In fact, studies show that students who get the chance to eat their lunch, have improved focus, and academic performance. And as a student who has waited in these lines, I know how long they can get. Therefore my point stands. If we bring back the split lunch schedule, students will have time to rest and recharge before their next class. So please reconsider this schedule change.
