Getting rid of the 5:30 busses impacts not only the student body, but the entire school climate. Some people’s only source of socialization or physical activity is dependent on the transportation provided to get home.

     Who we are as Vernon Vikings could change with no after school busses. Athletes with no ride my have to drop out. After school clubs may lose their most valuable participants, or people who rely on after school activities in many ways. The best athletes and brightest students may loose opportunities, or hope for their futures. 

    The minimal notice issued could have been prevented. If the financial situation of the district is that dire, notice could have still been provided, people could have had  time to prepare and organize. Some people have already signed up for spring sports and commitments, should they be punished if the 5:30 busses were their only hope for doing their desired activity? Other alternatives to completely cutting out the 5:30 busses can be proposed.
